The Extravagant Welcome committee is making plans to participate in the QC Pride Unity Parade on Saturday, June 8. The Extravagant Welcome committee will be a part of this parade by joining others to give free Mom (and Dad) hugs, sharing hugs, acceptance, and unconditional love with members of the LGBTIA+ community. The Extravagant Welcome committee is sponsoring a trip to the Putnam Museum’s exhibit Race: Are We So Different? on April 7, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm. The afternoon will include time in the exhibit and time in a discussion group facilitated by a Putnam volunteer. The cost to participate is only $9! This year’s children’s Christmas Program will be held during worship on Sunday, December 16th. And rehearsals start soon! There are different options for participating for different age groups: Children 4 years old through 6th grade can participate in the program. Rehearsals for that group begin on Sunday, November 11th, and will be held on Sundays before worship, at 8:30am. Youth from 7th grade through 12th grade can offer a talent to the program. They can play an instrument, sing a song, or offer another talent; and they can do that solo, as a duet, or in a group. Interested youth can…
Join First Congregational United Church of Christ for a workshop on cultural humility, the practice of approaching other people with an openness to learn and a willingness to reflect on your own assumptions, practices, and privilege! This workshop will be at First Congregational on October 3 at 6pm and presented by Dr. Chris Martin. Dr. Martin teaches across the social work spectrum specializing in teaching practice courses.
